As a faithful partner in the major sporting events, the Grand Est Region is particularly proud to join forces with the Trois Frontières Fencing club to organise the European Veterans Championships in Thionville in May 2023. Through this competition, I would like to highlight the commitment of the club to give a dynamic image of our region and to promote the values of sport to which we are so much attached. It is therefore a pleasure for the Grand Est Region to join this event, which will celebrate the qualities of precision, concentration and self-determination in a discipline that is always appreciated by the general public, thanks to the remarkable performance of our national, but also regional, shooters, such as Charlotte Lembach and Sara Balzer, who have been awarded money by sabre team at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. This European Championship will also promote the strengths and ambition of the City of Thionville and the entire Grand Est around the dynamics of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024.

I wish all competitors and their associates a pleasant stay in our beautiful region, and that this championship offers remarkable performances.
